HIGHLIGHTS OF NOVEMBER 2012

Dear Friends,

Greetings from A H M Trust. We are very happy to circulate the AHM Trust Highlights of  November  2012.

AWARENES ON DENGUE FEVER:  

                                                         Many incidences of Dengue Fever were cause of worry in our district. So the whole month the awareness programme and health education was given together with Govt. Health officials. Dengue Fever was gradually  brought under control in the district. The cause of spread of disease was Edes Egypty mosquito.+

DEWALI  CELEBRATIONS:

Dewali was celebrated on 13th November at children’s home and at senior citizens home. Traditional lamps were lighted to dispel the darkness, Crackers were fired and the whole day was enjoyed in new dresses, sweets and good food, all together, old and young. Atmosphere prevailed, whole day, of love and compassion.

ENTREPRENEUR DEVELOPMENT TRAINING:

This month  we conducted training programme on Entrepreneur Development  for the members of  Women Self Help groups,  jointly with the Canara Bank, Theni. This time it was on one month short term course on Beauticians.

INTERNATIONAL DAY  FOR THE ELIMINATION OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN :

We have observed the Internal Day for the Elimination of Violence against women on 28th. The awareness meeting was presided by Dr. S. Desai. Dr. K.S. Palanisamy I.A.S., District Collector, Mr. PraveenKumar Abinabu I.P.S., Superintendent of Police, and Advocates participated. Heavy discussions took place on women issues of  Child marriage, Sexual harassment, Domestic Violence, Dowry, Alcoholism and Women health rights. Cultural programme was also conducted on women’s issues.  Many cases of violence against women were encountered this month which we are trying to solve.  

SENIOR CITIZEN HOME BOOMI POOJA :

Boomi Pooja is the traditional prayer to the mother earth before any construction work. The God is invoked and prayed to stay with us and protect us always. After that the bore well was dug to procure water (see the last photo).

October Update

Dear Friends,

Greetings from A H M Trust. We are very happy to circulate the AHM Trust Highlights of  October  2012.

SENIOR CITIZEN DAY: On the 1st  We  celebrated senior citizen day on our campus with the senior citizens, children and local villagers. We conducted games and distributed prizes to the winners. Finally we all had  lunch together.

TRAINING ON LIFE SAVING SKILLS:

On 5th we conducted training programme on Life saving skills for the members of  Women Self Help groups,  jointly with the Ekam Foundation under  Community Health Programme.

SARASWATHI AND AYUTHA POOJA CELEBRATIONS:

Saraswathi and Ayutha Pooja was celebrated on 22nd and 23rd at children, senior citizen home and at vocational training centre, to invoke  The Education God called saraswathi and honor professional- and skill tools.

EXTENSION OF OFFICE BUILDING:

Also on 23rd the extension of office building was officially opened. The extension was necessary, as the Joint Director Mrs. Stella needed a separate work area for counseling and other similar intervention talk in connection with the women issues.  

ABANDONED FEMALE CHILD:

On 31st , just one month old baby was left in the cradle in front of the clinic. After initial care in our home the baby was  handed over to the Social Welfare Department for the legal Adoption.  The baby’s  life was thus saved.
