February Highlights
HIGHLIGHTS OF FEBRUARY 2013
Dear Friends,
Greetings from A H M Trust. We are very happy to circulate the AHM Trust Highlights of February 2013.
ANNUAL DAY :
A H M Trust’s 19th Annual Day was celebrated on 3rd February 2013 in a simple way. Staff were participated in the games and cultural activities. Prizes were also distributed to the staff. They shared their experience. Best staff were honored and other staff were motivated. 



COMMUNITY HEALTH:
II phase Pulse Polio Immunization camp was organized along with Government at Bodinayakanur bus stand for the floating population. 321 children benefited.
HEALTH AWARENESS:
Ms. Stella Ibrahim, Joint Director, gave the lecture to the students of National Service Scheme, CPA College, Bodinayakanur on Tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS and Cultural values. Our staff member were also creating awareness among the family members and Self Help Group members in the villages.
NESA KARANGAL HOME FOR CHILDREN:
Birthday of M.K. Alagiri, Union Minister for Fertilizers was celebrated by the Theni District DMK political party members in our home children. They provided special lunch for children and Senior citizens. Children and senior citizens enjoyed well.
UDHAVUM KARANGAL HOME FOR SENIOR CITIZENS:
From this month onwards we have started the Grievance hours regularly on every Friday for residents of senior citizens home.
STAFF DEVELOPMENT:
176 Child Rights Clubs are functioning in our working areas. These clubs will form a Child Rights Federation at block level, after been trained in Child rights and Children parliament which has value in addressing the child rights issues prevalent in this locale. On 21st and 22nd training was conducted on Children Parliament to the staff.
YOGA AND DRAWING CLASSES:
Yoga and Drawing classes were conducted for our home children on Sundays.

Highlights of January
Dear Friends,
Greetings from A H M Trust. We are very happy to circulate the AHM Trust Highlights of January 2013.
COMMUNITY HEALTH PROGRAMME:
This month eye camp was conducted together with Aravindh Eye Hospital on the 6th. 162 patients were examined, out of them 36 patients were referred for cataract surgery. 22 patients received spectacles. 





Pulse Polio immunization camp was organized with Government on 20th at Bodinayakanur bus stand for the floating population. 199 Children benefited.
Health education was given to school children under the school Health programme, men and women Self Help group members in the villages on Tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS prevention.
PONGAL DAY CELEBRATION:
On 15th and 16th we celebrated Pongal ( Harvesting Festival ) in Children Home, Senior Citizens Home and the Farm. All the children, Senior Citizens and staff enjoyed with sweet rice and sugarcane. We distributed new saris to the Pensioners.
CHILD PROTECTION AND WELFARE PROGRAMME:
Child Rights Club meetings were held at different villages to discuss and address the issues of children and to create the awareness on child rights. 167 children Rights clubs are functioning in the 61 villages.



15 Children’s Learning Centre ( CLC ) are conducted in the evening to improve their English communication , arithmetic skill, cultural and sport activities.
STAFF DEVELOPMENT:
On 18th and 19th training was conducted on “Effective Mentoring skills” to the teachers of the Children’s Learning Centre. The objectives of the training was: To understand what is mentoring needs in the child development programme, To describe the key elements of effective mentoring, To develop and enhance the skills required to establish and maintain mentoring relationships.
REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION:
The students of vocational Training centre celebrated the Republic day on 26th. Flag hosting ceremony was conducted by Mr. S.M.S. Ibrahim, the Director.

December highlights

HIGHLIGHTS OF DECEMBER 2012

Greetings from A H M Trust. We are very happy to circulate the AHM Trust Highlights of December 2012.
COMMUNITY HEALTH PROGRAMME :
A H M TRUST implements regularly the activities of Tamil Nadu Voluntary Health Association in Theni District. Seventeen NGOs jointly observed the World AIDS Day programme from 1st December to 7th December in Theni District, giving awareness through cultural programme and distributing pamphlets . Dr. K.S. Palanisamy I.A.S., District Collector presided the final function. Dr. T. Kanjana, Deputy Director of Health Services, Dr. Mythreyee, Dean, Theni Govt. Medical College, NGO Directors and other Govt. officials were facilitated. People Living with HIV/ AIDS, Transgenders, Commercial Sex Workers participated. One of the day was observed by AHM Trust at Bodinayakanur Taluk.
BLOOD DONATION CAMP:
We have jointly organized a Blood donation camp with Bodinayakanur welfare association on 8th December. 101 units of blood were collected and donated to the Theni Government Medical College Hospital. Donors were motivated and honored.
TALUK LEVEL GRIEVANCE DAY:
Local panchayat body has conducted the Taluk level Grievance day meeting at AHM Trust premises. District Collector, Regional Development officer and other 29 departments Government officials participated and sanctioned the welfare schemes like old age pensions, widow pensions, agricultural equipments, patta etc.,
DISTRICT COLLECTOR VISITS TO NESAKARANGAL CHILDREN HOME:
Dr. K.S. Palanisamy I.A.S., visited our children home during the grievance day meeting and Interacted with our home children. He motivated the children for their studies and appreciated our activities.
WOMEN EMPOWERMENT:
Also this month we have conducted the Micro Entrepreneur development Training for the Women Self Help Group members.
CHILD PROTECTION AND WELFARE PROGRAMME - ABANDONED MALE BABY
On 28th, just one month old baby was left in the cradle in front of the office. Initial first days we looked after the baby. Later Ms. Stella our joint director handed over the baby to the District Collector for the legal Adoption.
