HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE PERIOD OF JANUARY 2015 TO MARCH 2015

Dear Friends,

Many Greetings from A H M Trust. We have the pleasure to circulate the AHM Trust

Highlights for the period of January 2015 to March 2015.

PONGAL DAY CELEBRATIONS :

We celebrated pongal on 14th to 16th January (3 days harvest festival), on the first day at children and senior citizens home. On 2nd day ( Cow Pongal ) we celebrated in front of the cow shed. All children, senior citizens and staff were treated with sweet rice and sugarcane. Farm Staff were honored. We distributed new saris to pensioners.

During the pongal festival we conducted games to the children and senior citizens and the winners proudly received their prizes.

SENIOR CITIZENS HOME OPENING AND TRUST’S 21st ANNUAL DAY:

The second phase of the building opening ceremony took place the 3rd of February which is also the Trust’s 21 st annual day. So we celebrated both the occasions simultaneously under great excitement and full participation of staff. It was a joyful occasion with the usual opening ceremony with Pooja and cutting a yellow ribbon.

After a small snack and hot milk there was a long session of games and other activities,

Lunch together, young and old, the staff and some visitors. The whole evening was taken up by songs, dances and merry making.

TRAINING PROGRAMME:

During this period we have conducted the training to the college and women self help members about the Domestic violence, Child Marriage and child sexual abuses. 523 members trained. Training programme is funded by Otto Per MilleTavola Valdes, Roma, Italy.

CHILD PROTECTION AND WELFARE PROGRAMME:

Republic day celebrated at Vocational Training Centre. Flag hosting ceremony was conducted by Dr. S. Desai, the Founder and Life Trustee. Student participated the cultural events and got prizes.

Dr. S. Desai inaugurated the computer education at Karatupatti Children Learning centre on 9th February 2015. Every day evening 4 coordinators are going around 15 villages with 10 laptops and teaching the children. Children are very happy to learn easily through the computers. Laptops funded by Otto Per Mille Tavola Valdese, Roma,

Italy.

CHILDLINE OUTREACH AWARENESS Programme conducted at 3 different Higher secondary schools at Palanichettipatt, Government Higher secondary school, Theni and

Government Higher secondary school. Silamalai. 7629 students participated. Staff cultural team created awareness on child Marriage, Child Sexual abuses and role of

CHILDLINE.

STAFF ANNUAL TOUR :

This year we have visited Pilgrims places of Trichy Shri Rangam, Tanjore Pragatheswarar Temple, Velanganni Church and Nagore Mosque for 3 days from 27th

February to 1 st March 2015. Whole team enjoyed with dance and fun.

CHILDLINE ADVISORY BOARD (CAB):

CHILDLINE ADVISORY BOARD meeting held on 12th February 2015 first time at Theni

District. District Colletor N. Venkatachalam, IAS., President, presided over the meeting in the presence of District Superintendent of Police, P. Mahesh, IPS,. Vice- President, and district department head of Social welfare, Child Protection, Education, Child Welfare committee member, Juvenile Justice Board member, Transport and NGOs were participated. Report was submitted by the CHILDLINE Director S. Mohamed Sheik Ibrahim. Discussed about the report and passed the resolution to implement the CHILDLINE activities in child friendly manner. The functions of the CAB are:

1). To assess and review the functioning of CHILDLINE

2). To address policy issues emerging from cases intervened by CHILDLINE 3). To work towards making the system more child – friendly

November updates from India

HIGHLIGHTS OF NOVEMBER 2014

Dear Friends,

Many Greetings from A H M Trust. We have the pleasure to circulate the AHM Trust Highlights of November  2014.

MEDICAL CARE PROGRAMME:

During the period 2,551 patients were treated in the clinic. We work in close cooperation with the Government Health department for TB, HIV / AIDS.

COMMUNITY HEALTH PROGRAMME:

Under the Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme, We have started to distribute the free eggs   as a supplementary nutrition to the Tuberculosis patients on alternative days at the clinic.  Dr. Dhandyuthapandi, Block Medical Officer,  Government Primary Health Centre  has inaugurated the programme.

THE HANS FOUNDATION :

First   time   we   have  participated  the  Fifth  Anniversary  of   The   Hans   Foundation  

( THF ), New Delhi and NGO partner meet. That visit was very useful to  understand the meaning full work of THF.  

THENI CHILDLINE 1098:

Member  of the  Nesa Karangal  Child Protection  and  Welfare Federation tied  Rakhi to  District Collector Mr. K.S. PALANISAMY and  Superintendent  of  Police Mr. MAHESH as a part  of the CHILDLINE SE DOSTI ( Friends of CHILDLINE ) event to mark the occasion of  CHILDREN'S DAY here  on 14th to 20th November 2014 Universal Children’s Day. The event was organized by THENI CHILDLINE, where the members of Children Federation tied rakhi to various dignitaries, including  CWC members, District  Child Protection Officer, Project  Officer  of ICDS and other officials. We took oath against Child Marriage at Presentation Girls Hr. Sec. School, Theni.  Child Marriage awareness Posters also release by Ms. Naga Prabha, District Social Welfare Officer, Theni. Cultural Programmes conducted at  bus stand and main bus stops at Theni.

CAPACITY  BUILDING:

We  have conducted the Training of Trainers  in the Legal  aspects of  Domestic Abuse and Violence against women.

HIGHLIGHTS OF OCTOBER 2014

Many Greetings from A H M Trust. We have the pleasure to circulate the AHM Trust Highlights of October 2014.

MEDICAL CARE PROGRAMME:

During the period 2,603 patients were treated in the clinic.

DEWALI CELEBRATION :

Dewali celebrated at Children and Senior Citizens home. Crackers  were fired and the whole day was enjoyed in new dresses with sweets and Special food, all together, both children and the old.

HOME FOR SENIOR CITIZENS :

We opened the senior citizens Home for  Men. The home provides all the necessary facilities for the aged.

EXPOSURE VISIT :

The students of Saraswathy Nadar Higher Secondary school, Theni from National Service Scheme and SCOUT scheme visited our organization. Students and teachers shared their joys with senior citizens and learned about the different type of services from AHM Trust. They distributed new dresses and sweets to all the residents of Senior citizens Home.

VOCATIONAL TRAINING CENTRE:

In  May 2014 the training period ended and we were all happy to announce that all candidates passed.  All the trainees received course certificates and  new students  introductory session was  conducted.

STAFF TRAINING :

On 17th and 18th of this month we conducted the training to the staff.  The training was on Training of Trainers ( TOT ). All the staff were participated actively.
