October Update


Dear Friends,


Greetings from A H M Trust. We are very happy to circulate the AHM Trust Highlights of  October  2012.

SENIOR CITIZEN DAY: On the 1st  We  celebrated senior citizen day on our campus with the senior citizens, children and local villagers. We conducted games and distributed prizes to the winners. Finally we all had  lunch together.


TRAINING ON LIFE SAVING SKILLS:

On 5th we conducted training programme on Life saving skills for the members of  Women Self Help groups,  jointly with the Ekam Foundation under  Community Health Programme.



SARASWATHI AND AYUTHA POOJA CELEBRATIONS:

Saraswathi and Ayutha Pooja was celebrated on 22nd and 23rd at children, senior citizen home and at vocational training centre, to invoke  The Education God called saraswathi and honor professional- and skill tools.



EXTENSION OF OFFICE BUILDING:

Also on 23rd the extension of office building was officially opened. The extension was necessary, as the Joint Director Mrs. Stella needed a separate work area for counseling and other similar intervention talk in connection with the women issues.  



ABANDONED FEMALE CHILD:

On 31st , just one month old baby was left in the cradle in front of the clinic. After initial care in our home the baby was  handed over to the Social Welfare Department for the legal Adoption.  The baby’s  life was thus saved.

September Updates


HIGHLIGHTS OF SEPTEMBER 2012


Dear Well wishers,

Greetings from A H M Trust. We are very happy to circulate the AHM Trust Highlights of  September  2012.

INAUGURATION:

Government sponsored programme - Integrated Complex of Special Homes for Senior Citizens    and   Destitute   children   was   Inaugurated   on    5th   September   2012   by     Ms. J. Jeyalalitha,  Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu through  Video Conference.  

TRAINING PROGRAMMES:

This month we conducted the Tuberculosis-DOTS Volunteers training on the 12th, under community Health programme. Entrepreneur Development training took place on the  14th under Women Empowerment programme.


EYE CAMP
This year eye camp was conducted together with Aravindh Eye Hospital, Madurai on the 16th . 146 patients were examined, out of them 32 patients were referred for cataract surgery. 27 patients received  spectacles at subsidized cost.  Eye drops and other drugs were provided by us at no cost..

CHILD PROTECTION AND WELFARE

a). The following photos show, Children ( child labour, school dropouts, orphan, semi-orphan and other vulnerable children ) receiving Rs.500/- worth of nutritive food each month. 40 children benefit by this programme.


b). Training on child rights  was conducted on the 27th  for the members of the Child protection and welfare clubs from the villages.



VOCATIONAL TRAINING PROGRAMME

The new academic year was inaugurated in presence of Drs. Desais. The certificates were handed over to the successful candidates of the previous year (2011-2012). 32 students enrolled for the year 2012 – 2013. The old and new students interacted on a very friendly basis.
