HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE PERIOD OF JANUARY 2015 TO MARCH 2015

Dear Friends,

Many Greetings from A H M Trust. We have the pleasure to circulate the AHM Trust
Highlights for the period of January 2015 to March 2015.

PONGAL DAY CELEBRATIONS :

We celebrated pongal on 14th to 16th January (3 days harvest festival), on the first day at children and senior citizens home. On 2nd day ( Cow Pongal ) we celebrated in front of the cow shed. All children, senior citizens and staff were treated with sweet rice and sugarcane. Farm Staff were honored. We distributed new saris to pensioners.



During the pongal festival we conducted games to the children and senior citizens and the winners proudly received their prizes.



SENIOR CITIZENS HOME OPENING AND TRUST’S 21st ANNUAL DAY:

The second phase of the building opening ceremony took place the 3rd of February which is also the Trust’s 21 st annual day. So we celebrated both the occasions simultaneously under great excitement and full participation of staff. It was a joyful occasion with the usual opening ceremony with Pooja and cutting a yellow ribbon.



After a small snack and hot milk there was a long session of games and other activities,

Lunch together, young and old, the staff and some visitors. The whole evening was taken up by songs, dances and merry making.



TRAINING PROGRAMME:

During this period we have conducted the training to the college and women self help members about the Domestic violence, Child Marriage and child sexual abuses. 523 members trained. Training programme is funded by Otto Per MilleTavola Valdes, Roma, Italy.




CHILD PROTECTION AND WELFARE PROGRAMME:

Republic day celebrated at Vocational Training Centre. Flag hosting ceremony was conducted by Dr. S. Desai, the Founder and Life Trustee. Student participated the cultural events and got prizes.



Dr. S. Desai inaugurated the computer education at Karatupatti Children Learning centre on 9th February 2015. Every day evening 4 coordinators are going around 15 villages with 10 laptops and teaching the children. Children are very happy to learn easily through the computers. Laptops funded by Otto Per Mille Tavola Valdese, Roma,

Italy.

CHILDLINE OUTREACH AWARENESS Programme conducted at 3 different Higher secondary schools at Palanichettipatt, Government Higher secondary school, Theni and

Government Higher secondary school. Silamalai. 7629 students participated. Staff cultural team created awareness on child Marriage, Child Sexual abuses and role of

CHILDLINE.



STAFF ANNUAL TOUR :

This year we have visited Pilgrims places of Trichy Shri Rangam, Tanjore Pragatheswarar Temple, Velanganni Church and Nagore Mosque for 3 days from 27th
February to 1 st March 2015. Whole team enjoyed with dance and fun.




CHILDLINE ADVISORY BOARD (CAB):

CHILDLINE ADVISORY BOARD meeting held on 12th February 2015 first time at Theni

District. District Colletor N. Venkatachalam, IAS., President, presided over the meeting in the presence of District Superintendent of Police, P. Mahesh, IPS,. Vice- President, and district department head of Social welfare, Child Protection, Education, Child Welfare committee member, Juvenile Justice Board member, Transport and NGOs were participated. Report was submitted by the CHILDLINE Director S. Mohamed Sheik Ibrahim. Discussed about the report and passed the resolution to implement the CHILDLINE activities in child friendly manner. The functions of the CAB are:

1). To assess and review the functioning of CHILDLINE

2). To address policy issues emerging from cases intervened by CHILDLINE 3). To work towards making the system more child – friendly
