June and July Updates from India

B. Dharmathupatti, B. Melachokkanathapuram, Bodinayakanur, Theni District HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE MONTHS OF JUNE 2015 AND JULY 2015
Dear Friends,
Many Greetings from A H M Trust. We have the pleasure to circulate the AHM Trust Highlights for the months of April 2015 and May 2015.
MEDICAL CARE :
During this period 5226 patients were treated in the clinic includes 3768 old patients, 1458 new patients, 3 new HIV positive patients, 6 new Tuberculosis positive patients and 5 new leprosy patients.


COMMUNITY HEALTH :
Advocacy, Communication and Social Mobilization ( ACSM ) awareness activity on Tuberculosis held on 6
th
June 2015 at B. Meenatchipuram Panchayat for the Panchayat President, Ward Members, office staff and scavengers. Street based Cultural programme on Tuberculosis also conducted every Wednesday at eight villages.


WOMEN EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMME:
During this period women self help group federation called Sakthi Pengal Kuttamaippu started the trading in imitation Jewelry, bags and fancy products in whole sale rate. Women self help group members are purchasing from the federation and selling in their villages.


Child Protection and Welfare programme and Women Empowerment programme jointly conducted the Campaign on Financing for Development ( FFD ). The third International Conference on Financing for Development is taking place between Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This conference will bring together world leaders to mobilize and channel resources to the United Nations – new sustainable development agenda action/2015 India was celebrated July as global day of action on FFD.


We have created awareness among the different stakeholders of children, youth and women through signature campaign on a large banner in form of currency model, Photo Booth – Since the banner would be in form of currency, we cut our a circle in place of lady picture, and people can place their face there and get pictures clicked.


CHILD PROTECTION AND WELFARE PROGRAMME:
We were happy to receive our supporter, The Hans Foundation, New Delhi visited on 15
th
June 2015. They interacted with the Administrative staff, Child Protection and welfare programme staff, Mentors from the children’s Learning centres, the beneficiaries of the Home sponsorship programme, Students of the Vocational training centre and the block level Child rights federation members. They appreciated our programme and gave the suggestions for further development.


Signature campaign conducted in the schools as well as children’s club against child labour. To show our support against the Child labour, we have sent the Post cards to the Prime Minister of India and the Governor of Tamil Nadu.


ANTI – CHILD LABOUR DAY
We have observed the Anti child labour day awareness programme jointly with CHILDLINE, Theni, and the Labour department from 8

June 2015. Signature campaign organized at 8 different places in and around Theni. The signature campaign was inaugurated by the District Collector Mr. N. Venkatachalam
Sticker pasting campaign on CHILDLINE and Anti Child Labour awareness conducted.


Joint raid conducted along with Assistant commissioner of labour, Child Protection officer to rescue the child labour children from the factories, different shops, brick-kiln, two-wheeler workshops and lath-welding workshops. The rescued children produced in front of the Child welfare committee for their rehabilitation.

Anti – child labour day Awareness Rally walk was conducted on the main street of Theni. It wa inaugurated by Mr. N. Venkatachalam, District Collector. The school children and the allied system members were participated.
