April and May Updates from our Friends in India

Dear Friends,
Many Greetings from A H M Trust. We have the pleasure to circulate the AHM Trust Highlights for the months of April 2015 and MAY 2015.
CHILDLINE DAY & INTERNATIONAL WOMENS DAY CELEBRATIONS :
We celebrated CHILDLINE day and International Women’s Day on 11
th
April 2015 at AHM Trust premises. Mr. V. Siva Ganam, District Judge preside over the Function, In the presence of Mr. R. Kannan, Secretary, District Legal Service Authority, Theni, Mr. K.S. Thirumani, Judicial Magistrate, Bodinayakanur and Mr. S. Mohamed Sheik Ibrahim, Director, AHM Trust and CHILDLINE. Ms. Stella Ibrahim, Joint Director welcomed all. Mr. V. Sivakumar, District Child Protection officer, L. Ramesh, Assistant Commissioner of Labour, M.K.M. Muthuramalingam, President, District Advocate Association, Theni gave the Facilitation. Ms. Manju, CHILDLINE District Coordinator, Ms. Vimalya, Women Empowerment Coordinator, Ms. Adheeswari, Community Health Coordinator read the Annual activity report. Cultural Programmes performed by the Children Federation and Staff Team. Prizes distributed by Dr. Bruce De Jong. Vote of thanks given by Ms. Amutha, Sakthi women Federation.






COMMUNITY HEALTH :
Eye camp were conducted on 24
th
April 2015 with Aravindh Eye Hospital. 146 members participated. 31 persons were referred for cataract surgery. 28 cases received spectacles.


TRAINING PROGRAMME:
During this period we have conducted the training to the women self help members about the Domestic violence, Child Marriage and child sexual abuses. 312 members were trained. Training programme is funded by Otto Per MilleTavola Valdes, Roma, Italy.


CHILD PROTECTION AND WELFARE PROGRAMME:
CHILDLINE OUTREACH AWARENESS Programme conducted during the time of Veerapandi Temple celebration. Staff cultural team created awareness on child Marriage, Child Sexual abuses and role of CHILDLINE.


SUMMER CAMP :
Residential Summer camp were conducted on our campus from 24th May 2015 to 27th May 2015. 42 children participated from the Child Rights club and Children’s Learning Centre. They have been trained in Life skill education, Child Rights, Yoga, Handicrafts items, Games and Cultural Programmes.




NESA KARANGAL HOME FOR CHILDREN:
This year our Nesa Karangal Home children went for Annual tour to Vaigai Dam.


VOCATIONAL TRAINING CENTRE :

In May 2015 the training period ended for the one year course students. Theory and practical Annual examinations were attended by the trainees.
